Where in the Amalfi Coast??

I want to go to the Amalfi Coast in August for 12 days or so (from Holland, woman alone). I don't know what is best once arriving in Naples: Sorrento? Amalfi? Ravello? or Naples itself? Then, I'd like to go to Positano to stay for a few days. Last, I'd like to spend some 3 days in Capri, on the beach. The thing is, I don't know what plan is best: First Naples or directly to Sorrento? Is it worth a stay of a night or so there or is it better to stay in Ravello? I'd like to visit the most important sights in the area but I would like to stay put for, say, five days in Positano, since it sounds really wonderful. I want to go to Capri and the last few days on the beach seem like a good way to round up the trip. Where in Capri (or Anacapri)? But what about Ischia? Ooohhh, it's so difficult, please help. Also hotels. Not La Sirenuse unfortunately, but may be something like Villa Rosa???

I agree with staying in Positano and then Capri. Positano is between Sorrento and Amalfi/Ravello so are somewhat centrally located. Definately visit each though. We did not stay in Ravello but visited it on a day trip from Positano and loved it but didn't feel the need to stay a night. Others can probably also speak to this better though. We stayed at Albergo California in Positano (it's across from the Sirenuse) it had huge rooms, breakfast, a beautiful porch overlooking the sea and some rooms had private balconies.

Hi LD,

Sit down with a map and a guide book and decide what you want to do and in what order.

12 days is a long time for the AC, so you will get to do it all.

I suggest 3 days in Naples before visiting the AC.

You might find my trip report helpful.

Naples, Positano then Capri. Do daytrips to Sorrento, Amalfi and Ravello from Positano. But if you are talking about THIS August, like in two or three weeks, wherever you are able to find a hotel is going to dictate where you stay.

Grinisa is right--finding any hotel will be your challenge.
