Is there someplace in Los Angeles (Glendale/Burbank area) where I can exchange American dollars for English pounds? I want to have some spendable money with me when I arrive in London. Thanks!

Continental Coin in Van Nuys (on Sepulveda at the Burbank exit of the San Diego Freeway) is a good place to exchange dollars for almost anything. Their exchange rate has been fair and they always have common currencies on hand.

exchange agency and the advantage of this agency is that they can
send the money to your home and they are a British company,
so they must have a very competitive exchange rate

Audrey, Can't you just exchange it at LAX-every other airport in the world had currency exchange windows. We just waited and did it at Heathrow, but if I remember right, MacDonald's took our Americn $$ for food at Heathrow.

Why don't you just look in the phone book?
Should be listed under "Foreign Exchange" or
"Currency Exchange."

We've had great success with our ATM card when in the destination city. Check before you gowith PLUS or CIRRUS or your bbank. You'll get the best exchange rate
