Depend on what you are looking for as always. My wife and I spent last Christmas in Venice it is always beautiful, this was our third time there.<BR> It is cold! at least last year. morning and evening especially,Ice on piazza san marco etc. but can bundle up. South would be warmer I suppose. RR

Only spent three wonderful Christmas seasons in Italy but loved them all. It does get cold, but is compensated by the fact that it seems almost empty. This leaves plenty of chances to encounter a one on one meeting with some other tourist or the the locals. There is no better time.

If you plan on staying at a smaller hotel in Italy, check to see if they open. Many of them close for at least 2 weeks in December.
