sandralist, it's difficult to search for possibilities without knowing which airport the OP would be flying into and what the "inexpensive" budget is. Anyway.... I'm more familiar with Alghero, and I thought it had pretty good public trans.

Here's one option in Alghero, 30 minutes by bus from the airport. Good reviews. $528 for 4 mid-week nights in mid-August. Weekends are sold out.

In searching on booking.com, the Olbia area seems to be generally more expensive, but there were properties available for the same mid-week, mid-August dates.
