Where in Europe for September/October?

Hello,

We are planning on traveling to Europe in late September or early October. Are there any spots or countries you would recommend for this time of year? We have been to London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Bruges on previous trips so aside from those everything is game.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We had a great trip to Ireland last year in September...no rain and wonderful interesting sights.

Of four visits to Rome, the one in October was my favorite. The weather was delightful, much better than the hot summer, and there were far fewer tourist throngs.

The Rhine and Mosel River valleys are great anytime, but the September/October fireworks displays and the associated wine harvest festivals can be a lot of fun:

Scotland can be stunning in September. This year looks like it might be a good one

I can hardly think of any place in Europe that isn't darn near at it's best in late September. But then, I have never been north of Denmark.

The south of France, southern Germany, Austria and Italy have been excellent for me.

Best wishes,

Rex

I work at a university and am therefore discouraged from taking vacation time while the students are there; but, my first plan for retirement, god willing, is going to be to go to Europe in the fall, maybe when the wine comes in!

If you haven't been to Italy, that would be my recommendation. Almost all of our trips to Italy have been in the fall and it is lovely.
