I don't know if I have responded to this thread previously or not! I now live in the southern end of the Sacramento Valley, CA. Born and raised in the SF/Bay Area. Maternal side of the family came to SF from Bath, NH a year or so after the Civil War. Other family ancestors are from Europe and NZ/Austrailia and the Maritime Islands of Canada.

Stu T, a family member was involved with the clocktower in downtown Petaluma.

My paternal grandfather had vineyards in Lodi waaaay before Lodi was known for their vineyards and wine.

It is so interesting to read about everyones background.

I'm from Columbus,Georgia. No not the one in Ohio the other one the smaller more conservative one. It's about 100 miles southwest of Atlanta.

I saw this and knew I had to represent C-town. It's a midsized army town, we have a couple minor league teams and fairly decent mall. Born and raised here. I will start plotting my escape next year after graduation. But everyone under 25 talks about getting out of Columbus and moving to Atlanta.

I was born in Paris (mother American, father French), lived there until I was 13 years old attending French Catholic schools and boarding school. Imagine the culture shock when I landed in a Massachusetts public middle school and had to learn English. Spent high school years in Virginia. Parents moved to Rome (Italy not NY) when I went to college in Vermont. After graduation I settled in central Massachusetts which is where I have been ever since (over 30 years). I don't get to return to France very often (next month will only be my 4th trip), so I cherish every moment because I consider any visit as my last one. I envy the seasoned Fodorites who go over to Europe one or more times a year. Nevertheless, I have fallen in love with the Southwest and within the next decade am SO looking forward to moving somewhere there. New England winters have taken a toll on me.

I came into this world as an Army brat at Fort Campbell, Tennessee (most of it is in KY, but I was born in TN!)

Lived briefly in Pittsburgh and central New Jersey. Have spent most of my life in Ohio: childhood in Toledo, college in Columbus (GO BUCKS), and interning and soon full-time in Cincinnati.

I was born in D.C., lived there for 5 years, Boston for 5 years, then moved to Cincinnati. Lived there for 23 years until September '05 when we moved to London (Richmond).

Almost at 1000.

I'll add my 2 cents worth...born in Louisville, Ky and lived there all my childhood until after college then lived in Nashville, Tn for 6 years, back to Louisville and now have been here in Atlanta for a almost 16.

Wow!! Am I really 1001?? I like the ring of that number! So, born in Coos Bay, Oregon but last 25 years in San Antonio, Texas--with bits of time in Ky, Tn, Il, Az. Guess thats tells you I'm not as young in numbers as I think I am. Oh well, I'm definitely young at heart and love to travel. 1001!!??
