£340 for a pair of wellies???!!!

That's not insignificant in my scheme of things.

I like to think that we're all significant. Our feet, too.

Just go to a local garden centre and get the cheapest ones there. I got mine for £16. I live in the country so I work at the allotment, do gardening and have walked up to 5 miles in them with no discomfort.

Thanks, Louise. I ended up finding a pair of "low wellies" -- 4 inches below the knee and easy to get on and off, at the Oxfam shop on Marylebone High St.

flagging above as commercial bid.

I've been wearing my Oxfam pair for gardening, and like them a lot.

hilarious replies. The arguments are just like those Aussies used to have against UGGS which are now a trendy fashion item. They were only wore as slippers or by really low socio economic folks as outside shoes and now cost lots and are a brand name..

Seriously, why is it anyone's business if you want to buy a pair of bloody Wellies?

I bought mine for 12 quid at Lilywhites in Piccadilly Circus. I love wearing them back in the states. Always get lots of compliments, and they're quite a conversation-starter.
