Where can I make train reservations
 

Can you make train reservations in one country for another. For example, can I make train reservations in Amsterdam for a trip from Barcelona to Madrid. I have a Flexipass that I will be using .I wanted to make reservations at one time or at least several at one time and was unsure about procedure. Having read on this site the expense of reservations here I am waiting until my arrival in Europe to make them.

You should have no trouble making reservations since the computer systems for the various railroads are linked.
What would be very helpful is your having the train number and the timings and origin/destination readily available.

You can look these up on line using a variety of sites to include the renfe site at www.renfe.es or using the GermanRail site which I will give you the link for in a subsequent post.

By the way..you can do this either at a railroad station such as at Centraal in Amsterdam or by going to a local travel agency office. In A-Dam as I recall there is a specific office at Centraal where international reservations can be made.

Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't.

For example, I recently was able to reserve tickets from Venice to Salzburg on Bahn.de, but it wouldn't let me do Venice to Rome.
