Where can I find a good detailed city map?

We're going to Biarritz and the Pays Basque the first week of October. Since we're driving from the airport in Biarritz to Hossegor and will be traveling to Anglet, St. Jean du Luz and other areas nearby, what's the most detailed street map I can get? I can't seem to find one beyond generalized highways.

Thanks,
Olivia

We buy our maps on the internet now from Elstead maps. I think they are in London. They have a vast supply of European maps. The postage to the U.S. is about the price of a map, but the selection is immense and the web site is excellent. Their URL is:
http://www.elstead.co.uk/softwld.htm

We were there last year and used Michelin local map #335. It is not all that "local", but we always take a red Michelin guide and use the city maps in that for really local info.

IGN also prints a Biarritz city map as well as hiking maps of the area.It seems to me that there is a map on a Biarritz city web site that I printed up before we left last year. "Google" Biarritz and I'm sure you will find it.

Have a good trip. Biarritz is gorgeous.

Another good source for maps is Stanford's. www.stanford's.co.uk

Although the internet will never be a good substitute for a really good street atlas or road map - - the map capabilities of mappy.com are extraordinary, in my opinion.

See http://www11.mappy.com/sidlnZZ1N8L0g...amp;show_poi=0 for central St. Jean du Luz, for example. And unlike the maps of viamichelin.com - - you can cut and paste these together, if you want to take the (tedious) time to do that - - they fit together perfectly.

Best wishes,

Rex
