Barbara how much longer will you be able to swim outdoors. Will you have many more 80% days this fall?

Midtown Manhattan, just off 6th Ave. Just finished lunch - a salad (of course), and piece of birthday cake for a colleague. It is a beautiful day, but I hear tomorrow is going to be cold and rainy. Yuch!

I'm at work in Manhattan, directly across from Grand Central Station. As all have confirmed, the weather is 80 degrees and beautiful, although it's expected to be much colder over the weekend. Just finished a Thai Chicken sandwich from Pret A Manger. Not bad considering it comes from London. Just kidding!

Sarah, we've been having some really hot weather for about the last week. it's definitely Fall today, though, so I think the days of swimming outside are numbered unless you heat your pool-and who can afford to do that now?! We're now into the time of yer when we can get Santa Ana winds from the desert. These bring hot, dry weather and are when most of our wildfires occur. Don't know when the temp will go up again (or if). This whole summer has been cooler than normal here.

Hi Sarah, Well, the rainy gloom outside is just beginning to lift, but I think it will only be temporary...and that's good. Our lake levels are down so much that many people can't use their boats. I live not too far from DJ here in Michigan...just a bit south of him....probably about a 30 minute drive. The rain he is experiencing now will probably be over my house soon. The color of the trees here are just beginning to turn bright, sunny yellow and fire-engine red...just a promise of what's coming. Your post caught me with a Lay's Masterpiece barbeque potato chip in my hand (and one in my mouth) and I have a nice cup of English breakfast tea sitting right beside the computer. But I WISH I had a big plate of Kung Pao chicken (not too spicy now) right in front of me! Mmmm mmmm mmmm, does that sound good.

Great thread! Sitting here in my office in Chicago loop looking out at the dreary day. It rained yesterday and turned cold last night. Today it is gray and high 50s ickkkk! Supposed to be cold this weekend after 80 degrees earlier this week, good thing I'm traveling south!

I'm stuck in a corporate park somewhere in the middle of NJ - I used to work at World Financial Center 1, across from the Twin Towers. I just nibbled on some Portguese chorizo I bought in the city - the food out here is horrible. There's all this open space with trees and lots of geese - a very strange experience for a NYer. I don't mind the warm weather - it makes waiting at the train station not so painful.I have friends arriving this afternoon from Florida and they insisted I meet them at Balthazzar's for dinner. While the food is good a majority of the people there are annoying as hell, tragic hipsters and hanger-ons. I don't know how people can stand commuting for an hour, twice a day.

Sarah,

I'm in midtown Manhattan as well. I'm looking south at the Empire State building and Bryant Park. Just finished a wonderful slice of pizza from Pronto Pizza. Enjoy the beautiful day!!!

Very sorry to hear that Mark. Hang in there. It's great that you are ok. New Jersey is much better than many other alternatives.

Frank: Pret a Manger in Grand Central??? Where? Down below in the Food Court? Lori: We're neighbors!

Sarah: Pret has 4 shops currently in Manhattan, Broad Street, 40th/Madison, 39th/7th, 55th/6th. Plans to aggressively expand throughout the city and is partially owned by McDonalds.

Home office located in small town near Denver, snowed a couple of inches last night with more expected tonight. Presently overcast and most of last night's snow has already melted.

I've enjoyed a very healthy three cups of coffee, chock full of cream and sugar, and nothing to eat so far today! (Hey, you'd be full too with all of that cream and sugar in you.) Very pleasant caffeine/sugar buzz at the moment.

Hi Frank, Hi Sarah,
Thanks Frank for all your advice on previous item. Sarah you say it's a great time to come and it certainly seems that weather wise. However, one silly question as my wife is fretting about this. When we come to NY what type of clothes shall we bring ? Summer outfits, winter outfits or a bit of both. According to comments it seems great today but appears it will be the pits tomorrow. Any suggestions to calm my wife down ?

I am on top of a small mountain in Southern New Hampshire where I work for healthcare organization; the foliage is beginning to turn, it's about 80 degrees but doesn't qualify yet as Indian Summer because we haven't had a frost. We all gathered in the cafeteria for birthday cake for a colleague, prepared by--believe it or not--our outstanding food service department. Wow, it was good. Last week at this time I was in New York City...
