I'd like to say that this is an absolutely wonderful thread. I have enjoyed reading all the entries.

I am also in NYC, cold and dreary. Last night I went and saw the movie "The Importance of Being Earnest" which I really enjoyed. I should be doing housework but will probably ignore it and just read a good book. I'll probably go out later this afternoon and roam around Macy's and then try to decide what type of restaurant I want to eat at tonight. Life is good!

It'll hit over 100 degrees today in the Southwest desert of the U.S. We haven't had rain for months and we won't have any soon. Just ordered, online, ROLLING STONES tickets; they're coming to Phoenix in January. Can't wait to cheer, sing along, and chair dance (I know, it's only rock'n'roll but I like it, yes I do).

Starting to do research on Portugal (pulling up a gazillion threads on this site) for our trip this fall. Consensus among the Loons is "someplace warm, someplace different, someplace where I don't have to wear city clothes too much" so Portugal is the hit pick of the week. I figure Lisbon for a few days, then into the countryside and on to the beach. There's a lot of stuff crammed into that small country. I have my work cut out for me.

Here in Orlando Florida and not bored but procrastinating. The weather as always is hot hot hot! We have gotten some rain and with all of the drought no one but the tourist are complaining. I was on the site researching a trip to Spain and Portugal next March... Yes very far in the future. I live for travel. My husband and I got married 3 months ago in Florence Italy and because we have to meet all the family we had a trip to Missouri in May (It was very rainy there. Floods. Yuck) and Texas is our trip in October. I am having European withdraw just knowing that I can't go again until March!!

Played three sets of tennis this morning which was quite a surprise since it looked so dreary here in CT and off to finish shopping for Father's Day. If the weather holds, we'll play 18 holes of golf tomorrow and then hopefully my daughter will make in back from a wedding in Michigan for the big celebration for Father's Day, back to work on MOnday Hope everyone has a great weekend!

North Florida's hot with rain showers every afternoon which just makes eveything steamy, sticky, or sultry depending on your perspective.

Went to the local French bakery early this morning for flaky croissants and chilled Orangina, then drove to the fabric store, jest a-munchin' and a-sippin' all the way there.

The plan is to stitch up a pile of sofa cushions this weekend using various plush chenilles in shades of caramel, chocolate, and creme.

See? I, too, lead an exciting life.

Having escaped the NE, I'm in Round Rock, Texas (Austin). It's about 93 with a chance of showers. I'm heading out back to sit and read by the pool, run my three miles and then cool of with a swim.

Yes it is going to be in the high 90's the next week, but I've never heard of anyone having to shovel sunshine!

How I envy all you people in warm climes! It looks as though I am the first "Brit" to respond and I am in North Wiltshire, UK.
The weather for the last week has been dull, overcast and wet - very depressing - and it looks like it is set in for another week in this area. It hurts to think that next Friday is Midsummer's Day and we haven't even started summer yet.
Today I went to three garden centres to buy plants for my containers and then planted them up in anticipation of some hot sunshine in order that they will thrive.
The only thing that is keeping me going is planning my trip to the Czech and Slovak Republics in August.
Please send us some of your sunshine!
Regards
Maggie

Another beautiful hot, sunny day here in Edmonton, Alberta - have done the housecleaning and now have to go get some stamps so I can send postcards to friends from Jasper- we're driving up there on Minday for some hiking, R&R, and "yay, I don't have to go to work this week" frivolity.

I'm in Toronto and we're having miserable weather. This is the worst spring I can remember. Some patches of sunshine, but more cloud and brief periods of rain. My garden is incredibly lush and green. I can see clematis, peonies, late blooming lilacs, but it's all too wet. And we're supposedly going to a garden party later today. I'm glad it's not my garden.

We are planning a trip to New Brunswick and Noava Scotia this summer - first trip east of Quebec City (at least in Canada). But I'm always thinking ahead. I'm thinking about where we'll go next winter and even next fall - you know, I love my life in Toronto - but it's still nice to escape!

Montreal,Canada. These replies have made me smile. Nice to know I'm not the only one putting off house work on this rainy rainy windy day. Anyways can't see the dust when it's cloudy - one plus. I've been searching thru the net all about Portugal, might be going there in Oct. or maybe Florence as it's out 25th anniv. I've just come back from a trip to England, midlands, seeing family. This morning I got up to watch the soccer, then went to get my hair cut. I was planning to see the movie Travelling Birds, but it's not playing anymore. I've got a fantastic recipe for salmon which I'll do in a bit. A big "nothing" day here.

Cleveland,Ohio, it's only 65 and has been drizzling all day. I shouldn't complain, this is the first bad day we've had in 2 weeks, for Cleveland that's rare. Tonight it's dinner at friends. Tomorrow I will do all I put off today, laundry, cleaning, etc. Need to start packing for trip to Italy, we leave Thursday for our honeymoon (we eloped 2 weeks ago). Thankfully the paper said Florence is sunny and 93 degrees, we will be in Tuscany for 2 weeks!!

Well,I'm NOT at work -- but it has cleared up here in DC land and we are having company for dinner. One couple went to Italy and is bringing their pics and stories, and we have our own from England and Paris. It is simply GORGEOUS out and we'll be drinking wine on the patio!

Thank you Elvira! I completely forgot about the Stones and thanks to you and this wonderful forum I now have tickets. I can't tell my husband how much I spent on them either! But I can't miss this concert - I had to submit for tickets about 10 times before I got on the side of the stage with my beloved Keith.

Oh, so consumed with my Stones tickets. Unbearably hot here in Phoenix. We awoke to a new colony of organisms growing in our pool. Shocked it with chlorine and waiting for the masses to die so we can swim tomorrow. Headed for the mall to stay cool and maybe grab some sushi later. My dogs have wrapped themselves around the base of the toilet to stay cool.

Chilly and raining sounds pretty good to me right now.

Going out dancing with a gentleman friend of mine tonight! Should be a lot of fun!!

Today was cloudy but not a rainy kind of cloudy. Very Monet-ish or Maxfield Parrish-like ~ deep blues to the sky, windy, fluffy white clouds, golden-lit! Very lovely weather!!
