Where are the best moules frites in Paris?
I want to go have a leisurly lunch of moules frites while in Paris next week. Where should we go????
|
Hi SG,
Leon Bruxelles ? 14E for the menu, with a Belgian waffle for dessert. They have several places in Paris. |
Is it you on another forum asking? Someone suggests Au Trappiste.
Have a great time. |
My husband enjoyed a huge bowl of them at Brasserie Ecole Militaire, around the corner from metro of same name. I had a fish dish and asked for a serving of haricots vert - waiter brought me a dinner plate of green beens!

C- It was me! your are also a multi websiter! I wrote down all suggestions and will report back! :)

Another vote for Leon de Bruxelles...moules are their primary specialty, affordable, multiple locations and great desserts. I like the one on St. Germain Blvd.
|
Ditto Leon on St Germain. You will be right across from Deux Magots if you want to sip an after dinner drink and people watch.

If we go to Leon de Bruxelles with a friend who doesn't like mussels, are there other offerings?
|
The Bistro de Papa on the Avenue Bosquet in the 7th has great mussels. The service has declined in recent years, but you can count on those mussels!
Léon de Bruxelles certainly features mussels - there are, I have read, 23 mussel recipes offered - but they also serve good traditional bistro fare such as roast chicken, steaks, etc. There are 12 locations in Paris. |

Yes. |
As for the menu at Leon de Bruxelles, if you go to http://www.leon-de-bruxelles.fr/quoi/moules.htm you can download a .pdf of the menu. The site's in French only, so if your high school French is as rusty as mine, you might have to click around to find what you want.

They are ubiquitous and while we have gone to Leon none of them are particularly charming. We had a good dish at Brasserie Balzar and always go to one of the cafes across the street from the Gare du Nord for mussels. Also had truly wonderful mussels at Bistro du Papa as St. Cirq said but the service really spoiled the entire affair.

There's a Léon de Bruxelles just a block from our hotel; so it will be very convenient to check in, leave our luggage if the rooms aren't ready, and then head for lunch.
Thanks to everyone for the information--just what I needed. Ira, I admire your brevity! |

my friend and I had wonderful mussels at Bistrot de Papa--could not stop eating them. But we had good service.
