When you dont have a UK registered credit cardd

When we are in the Cotswolds next month, we want to order our groceries online, and have them delivered to the cottage we are staying in. However, I found that we cant pay online unless we have a UK registered credit card, with a UK billing address. We are not UK residents, we are tourists,so this wont work. Ive contacted the grocery stores directly and there's no way around this. Please,Please, anyone that has had this same issue, let me know the SUCCESSFUL way you found to make this work!

I doubt if there is any way around that. The store told you so.

This occurs in various countries for some reasons, I can't book a bus ticket in Mexico online because they only accept Mexican CCs. There is nothing I can do about that. I think sometimes it isn't just their preference, there are actually banking laws or something that prevent it for some entities. I'm not sure, but I think I've heard that (or at least their bank).

I doubt if local grocery stores really care about delivering groceries to tourists, why would they. Local groceries stores near me deliver groceries for a very modest fee to keep local clients who buy a lot, they have no incentive to provide cheap delivery services to tourists, either.

Are you incapable of going to a grocery store or something? If you can't even drive a car or won't have one, I'm surprised you picked that location as a vacation spot and didn't look into this if you had no way to go anywhere on your own.

Could you ask the owners of the cottage if they have a solution? They may be willing to help?

I love visiting local grocery stores. If there's no way to avoid it, maybe consider this an opportunity in disguise, especially if you aren't familiar with brands offered. You may do better in person.

Does Amazon do food deliveries in the UK too? If so, it would likely take your US card. It does for other purchases from Amazon's UK site.

Amazon now owns Whole Foods -UK ones too I assume and there is one on the edge of Cotswolds -in Cheltenham:

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/cheltenham

Give them a try for food deliveries.

jamikins has to best solution - cottage owners may even get % rebate on c c purchases!

Ocado is the delivery company for Waitrose which is just about the most up market supermarket chain in the UK. I've just looked at our account and it seems to accept PayPal.

You could try setting up and account and trying it.

There's more than one supermarket delivery service! One might work if others don't.
