92 days before your date of travel, but there are also iDTVG fares and special sale fares that are available farther out, so check the SNCF website for promotions and iDTGV fares, too.

But IDTGV fares will no longer exist in September.

The only rock bottom TGVs will be the Ouigo trains.

Three months in advance - unless a "sale" is happening.

So if you live in the US and you want to travel on Sept 10, PREMs will first appear on June 9 at 6:05PM Eastern US time (which is 00:05 June 10 in France).

I purchased 2 "journeys" for my wife & myself for travel in early June this way and other journey on July 1 when the "sale" was advertised.

Would a Ouigo train be: 1) as fast; 2) as comfortable; 3) about the same price; and 4) about the same # of choices per day, as the TGV that I'm used to from other years?

Ouigo doesn't mean different trains, it just means different prices (tarifs), so the ride will be exactly the same (though I understand there is no bar car with a Ouigo tarif). Ouigo prices are not available from or to all stations, though. And no, you wouldn't have the same full range of trains available to you.

I believe they've added Bordeaux and Strasbourg and maybe other destinations since this list appeared.

Ouigo trains are different trains. They are a hideous blue color and are reconditioned older TGV trains with more seats crammed in. However, fares start at 10 euros.

just like the airlines, cheaper airlines have more seats in them, and more extra fees (ie, 2 euro if you want a power outlet on a Ouigo). They are "refurbished" double decker cars but don't have classes. They are not the same as other trains, they are quite distinct. Also, they have limited luggage space and SNCF requires you to tell them what luggage you plan to bring on board because the space is so limited.

I don't mind the blue so much, at least on the outside, but not a fan of the bright magenta pink. Someone's kids must have picked those out.

The ones I've seen that are traveling to Bordeaux don't look bright blue - or have I missed something?

At any rate, PREM fares along with my SNCF discount card, are all I want or need to travel those routes.
