A better question is when will the rest of the world adopt ft. inches and gallons? Last time I checked, the U.S. is the only "superpower". Why should we have to change?

Having lived in metric use countries for 12 years, I'm all in favor of its adoption in the United States. It's easier to use and, in these times, would make us more competitive in the world economy. Years ago, Congress passed resolutions to adopt the metric system in, if I recall, 15 years. We'd be better off if they had followed through.
