Since you conveniently forgot to mention your nationality and where you live, this is impossible to answer.

I'm travelling to Italy at the end of July. It is difficult to answer your question without knowing where you are intending to arrive in Italy from. Nationality is not relevant, were you are arriving from is.

i called the US Embassy in Rome June17 to ask when a US citizen can come to Italy....she said after June 30. I asked when an Italian citizen can come to US she said the same ..after June 30. But what restrictions?..No one seems to know. Yesterday my Italian boyfriend tried to board a flight to Hawaii...no go. I am trying to find someone that knows FOR REAL. I called the US state dept travel site....got a real voice....they gave me false info. Who can you trust?

Hawaii is more restrictive than other states.

Right now infections are peaking in several states. So it's to looking good for Americans being able to enter the EU in July ...

I am aware of the 14 day quarantine here in Hawaii...will gladly do that....But do you know for sure about US citizens traveling to Italy?....and what restrictions are applicable?...

There was some hope 1-2 weeks ago that Americans could visit EU starting in July. Some countries like Greece and Portugal had indicated they would open up to the world.

But US has a growing number of cases and there is a EASA list of airports from countries where there’s a high rate of infections. That list had 29 US states on it earlier this week.

So who knows what will happen.

The info is in the Italian Government link I provided. It is not as simple as whats the rule for US citizens, it also depends on where you are travelling from and where you reside which might be different to your citizenship/passport nationality. I had to read it a few times to understand if we could travel to Italy or not.

Not trying to be the killjoy, but without prompt, our insurance company just went out of its way to alert all of us retired teacher clients, that whatever our travel intentions might be for the immediate future, the company would not be insuring any of us for any covid-related issues. The email was clearly a FAIR WARNING to anyone thinking of taking the risk. We had our long-awaited Italian trip cancelled in April, and we lost a considerable amount of money then, so believe me, I'd love to finally go on that same trip. But jumping the gun may just result in some nasty surprises for the impatient.

Is it really? I thought in regards to the pandemic it is where your trip originates, not what passport you hold. I am a US citizen with permanent residence in the UK, and would expect the restrictions for travel from Britain to apply, not those from the US. Of course if you have a passport from an EU country you are allowed to return home.

Not always true. Many Italians ended up stuck abroad and only recently have returned home.

Traveler_Nick, I’ve noticed you like to nitpick. When flights are available everyone is entitled to return home, and repatriation flights have been provided by many countries to make that possible. Yes, lots of people around the world were temporarily stuck in foreign countries when International flights were suspended.

From the European Commission:
“The following are exempt from the temporary travel restriction to the EU+ area

• all EU citizens and citizens of the Schengen Associated States, and their family members for the purposes of returning home
• non-EU citizens who are long-term residents in the EU“

I don't think spreading false messages is positive. Plenty of Italians got stuck in Spain. Plenty got stuck in South America . Plus other areas.
