When to reserve?
How far ahead do we need to reserve a Paris
hotel? We are going to in Sept. but don't
have our flight dates yet. We will try for
the Hotel du Globe as suggested here. I need
some back up suggestions. Has anyone stayed
at any of the hotels listed in Traveler last
month?

As soon as you reserve your plane tickets reserve your room. I am going in Oct. and went to reserve my first choice hotel, 3 weeks ago and it was already full!

Hey, Danni

You only have to press the "post" button once. It takes a minute or so sometimes :-)

Thanks everyone!!! Sorry about the double posting!

I've seen business reports that September is the busiest month for hotels in Paris, so you should reserve as soon as you can so get any choice of popular hotels. I don't think I've stayed in any of those National Geographic Traveler hotels, but I've read about most of them for years, many of them have been recommended in various guidebooks for years as good budget hotels and are not new discoveries, but I think all of them are indeed good choices. Hotel du Globe is pretty cheap for the 6th arr, I think, so not sure what would be comparable, maybe Hotel du Lys; Relais St Sulpice is good in that area but somewhat more expensive, as is Hotel de L'Odeon (even more $, I think, but nice), maybe Hotel Louis II, also. There are some other similar ideas (cost and area) in a recent post from someone looking for a comparison to Hotel Grandes Ecoles, that is in title (her name is Annie).

As I mentioned in a previous response to an inquiry like this, I would book hotels in Paris for September ASAP. September is fall fashion season, and hotels are used by models and others coming for the shows. Also, booking well ahead is always best for getting the best/best value hotels in a region. I have already booked all of my hotels for a Sept 22 trip to France.

Happy travels
