*when* to purchase airfare

i'm not sure *when* i should snap up a good airfare deal. i'm leaving sept. 1, returning sept. 10, seattle to paris. is there a particular month that fares will drop, or are the around $500 fares that i'm seeing regularly now as good as it will get? i don't want to miss out, but i don't want buy at $500 now, and see a $500 appear in july!

many thanks for your advice.

This has been debated before and it's such a crap shoot. I think the deciding factor is the dates you want. If you can't take a chance on the flights being full later and having to change your dates, then go ahead and book now. I think the fare sounds pretty good. Last summer we paid over $1000 a piece from Dallas to Shannon, but the exact dates we had to have were available.

At that price, buy it now.

Buy it an hour ago.

Buy it yesterday.

Best wishes,

Rex
Grab it now, bubba. That's a damn good fare, and there's a 75% chance fares will get worse, and a 25% chance they'll get better.

Unless you've got a history of incredible luck, don't chance it.

Are you saying you can get a $500 RT Seattle to Paris in early Sept (which is still high season, before Labor Day) and you're waiting for it to drop!????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd buy it immediately unless it were an airline you think is going out of business. Why wouldn't you want to buy it at $500 now if you see it at $500 in July?

I just received my tickets from Orbitz, from Florida to Amsterdam, return Paris to Florida for an October 02 trip. Price for United was $434 + tax, $512 total (each). I think maybe it was reduced b/c domestic leg is on a 50-seat regional jet. Anyway, am very restricted to my chosen dates due to work so grabbed it early.

you guys are fabulous! thanks for the affirmative advice, and for reading through my typo (i meant to write "...and see a $300 appear in july!").

I will purchase these $500 tickets now. by the way, i'm finding these fares on a few websites, including travelhub.com and justfares.com.

Has there ever really been a $300 fare for Seattle-Paris? in SEPTEMBER?

I wouldn't be surprised to see it difficult to get below $500 for Seattle-DENVER!
