When to buy

We are planning a trip, in Oct., from Vancouver to Heathrow and return Paris to Vancouver. The best airfare I can find is app. $1030.00. This is with Air Canada & British Airlines. I'm not sure how early to book fares and if this is a good deal or not. Thanks for any help provided.

It looks like you could take Zoom from Vancouver to London Gatwick, and Zoom from Charles de Gaulle to Vancouver, in October, for about $880 total.

Most fall sales aren't published until mid to late summer. If you don't want to take a chance and wait, then I'd keep checking and book when you're comfortable with a quote.

HI B,

You are still early for Oct.

See what happens in March and April.

In the past, there have been specials as late as Sept.

Waiting that long is not for the faint of heart.

From Vancouver, though, for these dates, I doubt you will get much cheaper with mainstream airlines. The Zoom price is pretty good. It's possible prices could get slightly cheaper, but it's also quite possible prices will go up.

If you are also willing to consider departures from SEA, then your options increase markedly, and waiting makes more sense.

This is a 'zen' question. Buy now and relax. Maybe get seats. Instead of wasting time checking incremental price differences use the time to organize your trip.
