Hi dave1218,
I feel your pain. We have to travel Vancouver to Paris in August and I'm torn between booking now and averting my eyes later if I see a seat sale come up, or waiting and checking constantly for a deal and possibly watching the fare increase! |
I am flying from Boston to CDG first week in January. When I started looking at prices they were $790 in July. I made the reservations nid September for $850. They are now selling for $1790.
This is the only non-stop from Boston on AF. Becasue of the elimination of many flights those that still exist are more expensive with little chnage downward. Also consider that waiting you may not get a "ggod" that you desire or no tickets at all. Buy it now! Davidjac |
The Seattle market has limited direct flights to Europe (BA, Air France, Lufthansa, and NW/KLM. The only one I've ever seen drop below $1000 in the "high season" was NW, and I will never fly them again!
Count us in the group of people who would rather pay a little more for the direct flight from Seattle. And for summer travel, I don't like to gamble on finding a summer sale. They never seem to appear on the flights from here. For our 2007 trip, I booked early on SAS for a late June trip, paying around $1400 RT to Zürich. I was very glad I booked early, as the price never dropped, but rose and rose---up to $2300 for those unfortunates who waited until May to book for June. (I found out the price when I thought I might like to change our dates a bit, and learned we would have to pay the updated fare if we made any changes. Needless to say, we kept the plans we had with no change.) |
You can get many additional flights/airlines out of Vancouver BC (YVR)
If you live in the north part of seattle it doesn't take much longer to drive to Vancouver than SEATAC. Many from Vancouverare more expensive, but some are cheaper. And lots of lower cost airlines like Air Berlin, BMI, and many others ... |
Thought I'd update in case someone in the future would like to know...
$1185 for the same flights as of January 19, 2010. Thanks again everybody for your great inputs! |
FWIW, I booked in Aug 2007 for our May 2008 trip -- Air France Seattle to Paris. had to book early re: hubbie's vacation schedule. If I recall it was around $1150-1200 per ticket.

I ended up booking at $1167 in December. I'm glad I did as I didn't want to stress too much for this and focus more on the trip itself. Can't wait for France!!
$1,182 for the same flights as of February 25, 2010. |
Thanks for letting us know what you decided Dave - we too have reserved the Air Transat (Business Class?)seats but at a whopping $2,484.30 per person.
Its direct - the seats just a tad wider but not fully reclinable, and we get meals. |
