When is Spring? In Venice, Rome, & Bologna
 

Did we miss it. We are going to Italy April 27 for 2 weeks, will there be flowers. I'm in NYC where the flowers are blooming slowly and its 40F.

Just spent last two weeks of march in Rome. It was like late spring in Mich.-cool mornings and great afternoons-just fine for all the walking-with a leather jacket and cap-even had a couple of 70 days as well as a couple of 55 days. Can't imagine doing the sites in summer.<BR>No rain-few sprinkles only. some flowers up-trees budding out, grass all green and lots of full leaft(?) trees,palms and the beautiful pines of Rome of course. If you go to weather history for your destination you get an idea about temps and percipitation. Match them with your home specs. and that should equal an answer. I would guess that there should be plenty of flowers around for your trip time. Or try the local outdoor mkts. Plenty of flowers and unbelievably fresh vegetables.

Oh, yes, Sarah you'll see flowers in Italy during end of April. Like many European cities, the Italians do window boxes. Your itineray doesn't suggest that you'll be visiting anyplace further south than Rome. If so, as you head closer to Naples & Amalfi coast area, the flowers are wonderful. In particular, I've seen exquisite roses in people's gardens. Should you get to any of the local outdoor markets (even in Rome), they sell beautiful fresh cut flowers at prices much lower than what I can find in States. <BR>

My husband and I just got back from Bologna and Venice two weeks ago and we had temperatures in the low 80's while we were there. All the lemon trees, tangerine trees, etc. were in fruit, and there were lots of flowers. I believe our weather was warmer than usual for this time of year, but it should be clearly warmer than New York! Have a wonderful trip.

80 degrees in Venice, Bologna at this time of year? That definitely is warmer than usual.<BR><BR>
