when in the summer is the best time to go to Barcelona?

We have children 5 and 3 years. Obviously don't want weather to be too hot, but have to go in summer because of school hols.

We went the second week of July and the temps were mild, in the 80's F (25-26C) and sunny. I don't know if that is typical or not, but we found it very comfortable - not hot at all...

Depends on what you're used to - for example, we're from Scotland & certainly wouldn't describe the 80's as being mild!

We visited Barcelona in January & although it was clear that the locals were feeling the chill it seemed pleasant enough to us.

Check out weatherunderground.com and do a history of past years. For me, summer would probably not be a good time to go because it would be too hot, but depends on what you're used to. I also think summer would be too crowded, and would say the earlier in summer you go, the better.

In July/August, the daily highs are around 30-32C (86-90F), but high humidity makes it rather unpleasant. Also the city will be packed with tourists, and many family groups. If you can go in June, you find the climate less oppressive and the city less crowded (but still busy - book your accommodation in advance), or September.

We're from Texas, where the temperature is in the 90's/100's that time of year, so 80's is actually quite refreshing to us. Also, we found the humidity quite low and there was a breeze blowing the whole time. We were on the top of an open tour bus, and the wind was actually cool on our face.

bkluvsNola,

Yes, agreed & that's the point I was making. Unless siobhan tells us where she's from it's difficult for any of us to know how the temperature will affect her family.
