When does the heather bloom in Scotland?

I am planning a trip to Scotland sometime during 2003, and would like to vist the highlands while the heather is blooming, if possible. Can anyone tell me approximately when the heather blooms? Does anyone have a favorite spot for walking in the hills and enjoying the heather?

The heather should be in full bloom from the middle of August to the middle of September--around Labor Day would be the peak.

Regards,

Jinx Hoover

I have visited in mid August and saw tons of beautiful heather in bloom.

The best times for that sort of thing are late Spring when the gorse and broom (both are brilliant yellow) are in bloom, or early Autumn when the heather turns the hillsides purple, or early Spring when bluebells turn the forest floor into seas of bright blue

In otherwords - go to Scotland any time, but if heather is what you want to see go in September.
