When does it snow in Bruges?

I would like to plan a trip to Bruges to see the christmas markets in December. Can you help me with an idea of the weather, I would love to come when it snows, is this likely or is it unpedictable. I have no idea what the weather does in Bruges.

Thanks, Suz.

You won't find much snow in Bruges since it's so close to the Channel. ((b))

Rarely - many winters never.

Maybe lille would be a better option for snow?

I was there for the Xmas markets last year and it only snowed a little bit which melted by the time it hit the ground.

It was great though and I highly recommend visiting. Try the hot waffles!!

It's pretty likely that there will be some snow showers or flurries during the Christmas market season. Whether that coincides with your visit is very much up to chance. We've been in Bruges every December for the past 7 years, and only twice was there measurable snow on the ground. Even without snow Bruges is beautiful and it's uaually chilly enough to enjoy the cafes with fireplaces!
