When does it get dark in Paris

Can anyone tell me what time it gets dark in Paris is mid March. I've heard everything from 4 or 5 in the afternoon to 7pm. Thanks

Never. Paris is the City of Lights.

Timer Nov 4th, 2001 05:02 AM

In June, it doesn't get dark in paris until 10:30p.m. due to their geographic position. It probably doesn't get dark until 8:00p.m. or later in Mid March.

Sunset on March 15 is at 6:54. See

http://www.srrb.noaa.gov/highlights/...e/sunrise.html

To "lazy" it is "the City of Light".
Last week it got dark around 7PM.

I thought the question was about when it got dark-not when the sun sets.

Christina Nov 4th, 2001 08:50 AM

guess what, Timer -- when it gets dark is pretty much perfectly correlated to when the sun sets. Most adults would have an idea of when it gets dark in comparison to when the sun sets -- it's about 1/2 hr later, so it gets dark around 7:30 pm in mid-March in Paris.

to gretchen: the question asked about mid-march, not last week.

Gretchen Nov 5th, 2001 02:09 AM

You are right--when we were there last March it was around 8:30 as I recall.

At night, then it gets light in the morning.

Gretchen Nov 5th, 2001 06:28 AM

It also adds first hand experience rather than supposition from when it gets dark in June.

Timer Nov 5th, 2001 07:06 AM

I guess 8:00p.m. is close enough.
Is mid March the 15th? or 15 1/2?
But then it couldn't be the 15 1/2 because it would still be daylight
Maybe it's somewhere between the 13th and the 18th. Does anyone know when mid March is?

Cave Idus Martias.

The Ides of March are come.--But not yet gone.

The sooner that day ends, the better.

first hand experience, march, june or october, is dim next to astronomy (noaa).

Tillie Nov 5th, 2001 10:19 AM

I was in Italy in mid March. It gets dark later there.

i.m.pedant Nov 5th, 2001 11:14 AM

I was there at 8:29 in mid-march and it was dark, as I recall. I was there in early June and it was also dark after sunset, as I recall. Hope this helps! Bon voyage!!!

You can get historical weather, sunsrise & sunset by going to www.weather.com, type in Search Go To "Paris, France", you will find today's weather, on this page select "Averages and Records", select month of March, go to next 12 days which takes you to averages for March 15 showing sunrise 7:04 AM, sunset 6:57 PM, and mean temperature 44 F.

The vernal equinox is march 21. That means that there are 12 hours between sunsrise and sunset on that day. Depending on where the city falls in the time zone, sunrise and sunset are around 6 am and 6 pm everywhere in the world in Mid march.

One thing to keep in mind with summer and winter sunsets is that Rome is about the same latitude as New York City. Most of Europe is higher in Latitute than most Canadian cities and as such gets dark quite late in summer - a condition I always try to take advantage of by travelling in June whenever I can.
