When do night markets start in the Dordogne, especially Audrix?

Hello all,
My son and I leave in a month for our France trip and will be based out of St Cyprien for one of the weeks. We arrive mid/late afternoon on Saturday June 15th. I have read some great things about night markets in the Dordogne and Audrix, just a few km from St Cyprien has one on Saturday nights. What I can't find out is when these markets tend to start. Do they start as early as mid June or is it mainly July/August? It sound like a close, entertaining way to have dinner and enjoy some outdoor local flavor on our first night in France. I already have restaurant reservations staked out for the week but may be willing to forgo one night in a restaurant if this night market in Audrix comes recommended. Thanks in advance.

Best,
Vance

Night markets, with few exceptions, are only in July and August.

The night market in Audrix, while now well-known (and the original one in the Dordogne), isn't really "all that." In recent years it's become terribly crowded, with 250 or more people crammed into what is a very small area in the center of town (it makes parking a nightmare unless you get there early - and then you may have trouble getting out). Frankly, I find the summertime soirées gourmandes in Le Bugue more interesting, and there's a lot more space to spread out, plus sometimes some decent entertainment and more parking space.

There are other marchés nocturnales that don't focus on food but are more like brocantes. You'll see posters for them along the roads, and the tourist offices will probably have a list of them.

I suppose you know that June 21 (or sometimes the closest Saturday to it) is the Fête de la Musique all over France. There will be many celebrations on that day and evening, quite possibly in St-Cyprien, which often has a big, all-day one.

And the 100th Félibrée du Périgord will be held this year in Périgueux on July 5, 6, and 7 and should not be missed, especially since it's in the capital of the region. Any tourist office should have the full schedule of events.

Wvdrhree, just in case you did not know, St Cirq is a resident of the area you are asking about so you can take her advice to the bank.

I haven't seen any announcements yet about les repas gourmands in Le Bugue yet, but they will likely be in July and August, as usual. They are on Tuesday evenings. At least they have been for the past 4-5 years.

St Cirq, thanks for the update on Le Bugue and the link to the website. Yes,Basingstoke, I am aware that St Cirq lives in the area and she has already been of great help to me in planning our trip.
