When do fares go down

I have to go to London from NYC or Newark, NJ mid-week in a few weeks. I always thought that Jan-March was cheap (relatively). On Orbitz, the lowest nonstops are Virgin and BA for $1400 R/T. When do the fares go down. Early every yr, there are the Virgin 99 dollar commercials (plus high taxes, each way etc) which adds up to $400+ but certainly not $1400. Is that of the past? Thanks

Hi

If you go to http://airtravelcenter.com/onetrav.htm
you will find EWR to London in mid-January for $376 including taxes.

emmacam - Travelocity is showing fares from NYC to London on various airlines incl. BA, AA and Virgin for under $250 rt before taxes. They appear to be good through the end of March. However, I think you have to stay over Saturday night. Are you just going for a couple of days midweek?? That could be your problem.

That is a problem. I went back on the sites and noticed that without a Sat stay, the fare is over three times the price. No way to get around??

You might be able to get around the stay requirement with Priceline or Hotwire.
