What's with Trip Advisor?
I am beginning to think Trip Advisor is not an unbiased website. I sent my review of
Covo Saraceni a week ago, it has not been posted, I e-mailed them a couple of days ago and they have not responded. This is the same review as http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=2 Anyone have any idea what is up with them? This is a truthful review and I feel strongly that this story should be heard. |
They take time my dear, I post all my reviews there.
|
This is the link to the Fodors review
http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34524813 I have posted many reviews in the past and for the most part they appear within 24 hours. |
I posted two reviews last week and they were posted a few hours later. That's been my experience every time I've written a review.
|
Like they say, give it some time. On occasion it takes them a little longer. Otherwsie, don't fret. Life's too short.
|
Having just read the so-called review, I wouldn't hold my breath expecting them ever to publish it. Although I suppose they may be holding it until they can edit it into something more coherent and relevent.

Hi
After reading your fodors review, which was basically about an unpleasant experience regarding a massage, and also missing bathing suits, it is possible that trip advisor felt it was too much of a personal rant without much said about the hotel itself. I'm sorry your bathing suits went missing, the issue really is how it might have happened and what their response was or wasn't, but I've seen many other negative reviews on tripadvisor so I don't think they are biased against publishing negative comments. Now you're angry at them as well? Life is too short. I hope you have happier experiences in the future. |
Stealing from a hotel room is not acceptable. Anyone planning to stay at this hotel should be aware of this. We spent 18 glorious days in Italy and enjoyed every minute other than this unfortunate experience.
|
The Trip Advisor site itself may be "unbiased" but some of the reviews definitely range from the absurd to the ridiculous.
An unpleasant experience is always sad to hear about BUT just because it happened to you doesn't mean it will happen to everyone else. I think all of the reviews on any of these sites INCLUDING the Fodors "rants and raves" should be VERY carefully read and taken for what they are worth. |
I read it--it is a pretty disjointed rant. Maybe have a nice glass of wine and recraft it into something more readible and useful.
|
I read it and certainly agree that is has info other potential guests would need to know... however, most reviews on Fodors are usually pretty short. Maybe if you shorten it and try to make it very concise they will publish it.
|
There isn't any reason Trip Advisor with be biased in regards to that one hotel vs. all of the others on their web site unless they had some financial tie. I've read many negative reviews on Trip Advisor.
I think you have important information, but it's too long and disjointed if you submitted that exact same post you had on Fodors. I've never seen a review on there that long, they probably have space limits. YOu could summarize the issues and complaints much better. This is more like a long trip report, not a hotel review for a site like that. |
My suggestion is to taper down the review and list what you liked, and what you disliked about the hotel. Let the overall rating reflect your dissatisfaction.
I would be upset if that website were ignoring unfavorable reviews, but to be fair, some of the problems reported were not the fault of the hotel. |
Sound advice above. Edit it down a bit so it is more succinct. It's useful for others to know the massage area is noisy and they have at least one rude employee but the fact they were running 15 minutes behind isn't that big a deal and short of banning children I can't see what the hotel could have done to alleviate the crying baby that kept your daughters awake. Stealing from rooms is totally unacceptable but their skepticism is understandable. Of all the things that could have been stolen (watches, jewelry, cameras, cash) two swimsuits were the only things taken? And they were brand new so the hotel would be out at least a couple hundred bucks to replace them. AND the theft story comes on the heals of a stay filled with complaints.

I just got on TripAdvisor, and the review is there, looks like it is word-for-word. Maybe they read this post.
|
I remember from the original post of this story, it covered specific items that are legitimate complaints (i.e., the ocean view room wasn't, and two items were stolen from the room) and several humorous bits that I do not see as reasonable complaints (i.e., a baby could cry all night in any hotel anywhere, and the crazy masseuse stalking confronting and giving dirty looks to client seemed a bit paranoid even if true).
I'm glad Trip Advisor posted for you anyway. |
