What's the weather like in March in Ireland?
 

I am thinking of a trip to Ireland in March or maybe Feb. What kind of weather can I expect?

Yolanda there is a saying in Ireland that it rains twice a week - once for four days and once for three days!<BR><BR>March is usually cold and wet - all the better for finding a nice pub with a big fire and settling in to listen to some music and make plenty of friends.

Hi Yolanda<BR><BR>The weather in Ireland won't be as bad as you fear. True, the temp does drop to about two degrees above freezing and stay there for months on end. But, by March, the long winter should be nearing an end. The weather in Ireland really doesn't change all that much from season to season. Sure, it gets a bit colder in the winter, but it's really never very warm to being with.<BR><BR>Don't think about the weather when planning your trip. Just count on rain, and if it doesn't, consider yourself fortunate.

It rains in Ireland for 9% of the time on the west coast and 6% on the east coast.February is the coldest month so you may even see some snow but it snows for perhaps a day or 2 per year.The temperature is around 40 degrees F in winter and 60 in summer.It can be quite windy near the west coast but storms are rare and there are no earthquakes,hurricanes or typhoons.In winter the main problem is the short day which goes from about 9am to 4 pm.See www.met.ie for full details on Irish weather.I personanlly would be happy to visit any part of Ireland any month but it is better in summer when the day goes from 6am to 10pm.

went to Ireland march 18-27, 2000. Weather was nice. Not cold at all and we only had rain of any consequence for 1/2 day. The sunniest day was actually the coldest as the temperature was lower and the wind was blowing quite hard
