What's the name of this restaurant in Lisbon?
A few years ago I was in Lisbon and ate at a place I really enjoyed. It was in the Bairro Alto near the Chiado district, very close to the ruins of the Convento do Carmo. In fact, it may have once been part of the convent or a monastery. It had beautiful tile walls with scenes of churchmen, several large rooms & high ceilings. I remember some type of historic plaque out front telling the building's history.

Sound familiar to anyone? I want to suggest it to a friend but the name has long gone from my head. Thanks!

Is it Tagide?? It is in Chiado, but it is a few blocks for Igreja do Carmo. It does have beautiful tile walls.

I came home and poured through my past pictures and notes and realized it was the Cerveja da Trindade, formerly the monk's dining hall. ThinGorjus, is Tagide nice too? If so I can mention that as well to my friend.

Tagide is one of the finest restaurants in Lisboa. It is very expensive, with nice view of the Tagus. It is on Belas Artes, down Ivens from Rua Garret--where Cafe Brasileira is. I know Cervejaria Trinidade, off of Misericordia, but I didn't think of it as a restaurant, but more as a tavern.

It's a beer hall, or tavern, but nicer and a bit more upscale than others I visited. I had a great meal there of octopus salad (with onion & olive oil) and great crab. I'll also suggest my friend check out Tagide, as will I if/when I ever get back to Lisbon. Thanks!
