What's the Holiday Inn Heathrow "Ariel" like?

We need a hotel near Heathrow for the last night of our Croatia trip. I am usually depressed on the last day...knowing that it will be another long year before a nice vacation! I want a place that won't depress me even further, but I'd like to keep the cost under $150. We found a 49 pound rate (plus tax) for this hotel. Anyone been there? I am considering bidding on priceline which I have done in the US, but I don't want to bid 4 stars and get the Sheraton Heathrow. The reviews haven't been very positive on this hotel. Thanks in advance for your help.

This hotel is plain, with small rooms. But everything was clean and worked well. I've stayed here three times, in 2004 and 2005.

Once, on a Priceline rate that worked out to about 29 pounds, I was upgraded to an executive room, which was very nice indeed.

It's very convenient because you can get a free public bus on Bath Road if going to the airport, or from Heathrow you can get a free public bus to your hotel.

The reviews on tripadivsor sound pretty decent. For such a good rate at £49, I think it's a good deal.

Never stayed there but I do remember it is a round building.

Yes, it is sort of like a doughnut and with some rooms you can look in at the "courtyard" area.

Has anyone recently used Priceline for a 3 or 4 star hotel near Heathrow. I'm curious what hotel they got and for what price?

Have you checked Betterbidding and BiddingforTravel - there have been some recent posts there. You can look at the lists of "won" Heathrow hotels on both sites.

Not sure what your definition of "recent" is. I bidded a 3* for LHR in February and got the other Holiday Inn (the M4 Jct 4 one) for $60. I initally tried for a 4* and was rejected despite a $80 bid.

Stayed there a few years ago and have to agree with WillTravel. Nothing spectacular, but very convenient and the bus service was a big plus.

I got the Marriott at Heathrow last year on Priceline for around $75USD. This year, I got it again for a total of $98 USD.
