What's the best neighbourhood to stay in Funchal, Madeira Island?
 

Dear Madeira friends,

Me and my wife have been to Madeira twice before and look forward to our 3rd trip in March 2018.

On our previous visits we have always stayed in the Lido neighbourhood in a high-end apartment rental, very nice and comfortable. We love sunbathing, going to the beach and swimming in Madeira's immense blue ocean. If you are interested you can easily find it just by Googling "Superior Rentals in Madeira".

But now we're wondering if we should try another area of the city, one that is equally well served by beaches, nice bars and restaurants.

We've been to Madeira a number of times and tend to stay in the Porto Santa Maria. It's right on the sea, next to the cable car and next to the restaurants in the Old Town. It's a five minute walk in to the town centre.It's a good standard and the food is excellent.
