Whats more fun? Paris or London?
 

This summer, I will go to either city for a week. Wife and 12 year old daughter prefer London, I prefer Paris to practice those three years of high school French and other things. Which would you choose?<BR>Mark, New Yorker

Personally I prefer Paris for the food, the architecture, the ambience, the scenery, charming small hotels, the food, the food, and the food.

Mark,<BR>Go to Paris!!!!! Just got back from both and I have to say without a doubt Paris is the most incredible city in the world... In Paris you can eat for nothing and everything is soooooo good...I recommend the 6th or 7th district to stay in. London is VERY expensive! The food is not that great and the people have major attitudes. Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay stunning. Youre 12 year old will love Paris. Hotel Relais Bosquet in the 7th is wonderful and perfect location. Good Luck.

No doubt in my mind, go to Paris... much better than London.

Mark, I love Paris over London, but since your 12 year old and wife want London, I say go to London. Your 12 year old will prefer it over Paris in terms of being &quot;fun&quot;. In London there is the London Eye, Maddam Tousads wax museum, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London, Dickens house, etc. Paris is more to be enjoyed as an adult with the Louvre, shopping, and coffee drinking on the Champs. London is both.

Try to see if you could afford/justify taking your wife to Paris for Valentine's day. Then London for the 5-7 days; perhaps as early in June as possible before true high season fares and rates totally kick in.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

Hi,<BR>I took my 12 year old to London In Feb. and htere was so much to do that was fun for her.<BR>We ar going back next week with her 19 year old brothere and going to London for 4 nights and Paris for 3.<BR>I, prefer Paris, but for kids, there is so much more in London.<BR>We are going to Lion King and Macbeth and the Jack the Ripper walk and london Towers, etc.<BR>In Paris, we will walk and shop and see museums, but I can't come up with as many other things to do for kids.<BR>

We took our daughter to Paris for the first time when she was 13 and she LOVED it! I can still remember the expression on her face the first time she saw the Seine. I've been to both and would pick Paris in a heartbeat! IMO--Not even close.

Paris is definitely more beautiful than London, which can look pretty rough in parts and I think it is cheaper as well. But London does have its charms and sights so if you go to Paris you could perhaps do a daytrip to London on the EuroStar.

Like most people who posted here I'd have to say Paris! Although, i do think there is more for kids in London, but it depends on what your daughter is in to. I'd recommend spending the full week in whichever city you choose rather than dividing it. I'm sure whatever you pick, you wont be disappointed. But ahh Paris...

If money is a factor in your decision, Paris is much cheaper than London. (I'd say 50% cheaper for the same quality of hotel, restaurant, etc.).

I'm not sure everyone will agree but I pretty much agree with Louis' comments except I'd say Paris is 50% cheaper for a MUCH BETTER quality of hotel, restaurant, etc.

The first time I went to Paris, we had rented a flat in London and took the Train to Paris for the weekend.<BR>That got me hooked and we have been going to Paris every year since then! So maybe you could do something similar, to satisfy everyone?<BR>

London is a better choice for people that want to do things. Paris is a better choice for people that want to experience the place.<BR><BR> Keith

Keith has summed it up perfectly, but I never realized that's exactly how I feel. I love both and enjoy both, but I've always said if only Paris had the theatre like London, that would be my first choice. I do a lot in London. I experience a lot in Paris. Yep, Keith has it right.

Mark,<BR>London is so dirty, EXPENSIVE and all not that..I have a 12&amp;14 year old and they hated London for it's lack of class.Took the Eurostar to Paris and they loved it!! Shopping, museums,food and just wonderful surroundings. Paris takes great pride in where they live where as in London, I don't if it's because they don't get enough sun but they really have a real attitude problem there! Your wife and daughter will thank you profusely for going to Paris! Plus in London it's 3-4 times as much for everything and it's not all that great. The food blows...
