What's happening in Paris Oct 15?

My Costco travel agent has told me that all their packages to Paris are sold out for the week of Oct. 15. She said something must be going on there that week. Does anyone know what?

Would have been good if the agent knew what was going on that weekend....thought that was the point of using an agent...

If these are packages for typical tourists (flight and hotel), it's probably just a popular period for them to go, that's all. October is a very busy month for business travel in Paris, but that shouldn't affect Costco packages. If there were something special going on in Paris, I can't believe a random Costco customer would know about it or go there to buy a travel package. I don't believe the Fall RTW fashion shows are that late, but those folks aren't buying packages through Costco, that's for sure. There are always lots of big trade shows in Paris in October, but again, I don't believe Costco packages would sell for them.

Oct 15th isn't even the beginning of a week, that's a Friday, so that's an odd thing to even say (the week of OCt 15th).

I agree that your agent should be better informed.
It is not fashion week in Paris. The 2 major shows are 9/4-9/7 and then 9/29-10/7.
I know that last fall the shows were later and the week you mentioned was booked solid at most hotels.
Curious to know what is happening this year.

I think October is the busiest month for Paris with trade shows and conventions.

If the Auto Show is on then, that would explain it. However, you should know that all of these things that fill up Paris hotels only fill up the mid to upper range hotels. People who are fine with a one or two-star place have no problems, since a lot of the places are off the travel agents' map and not in their booking systems.

No car fans here?

The Paris car show is definitely on that week. http://www.mondial-automobile.com/

But there should still be lots of hotels available.
