What's Happening in Munich in May?
HI All,
Yesterday Delta wanted $1009 for a nonstop ATL/Munich-CDG/ATL on 05/15/08 returning 06/06/08. There were about 85 seats available on the outbound flight. Today they want $1164 and there are less than 2 doz seats on the flight to Munich. All of their Munich flights are heavily booked and the prices are outrageous. I have also investigated the usual suspects. The Delta rep says that they have recently booked several large groups. Any ideas on what is happening in Munich the weekend of May 16? ((I)) |
Euro 2008 starts on the 7th June but I wouldn't have thought that would affect Transatlantic flights

I doubt very much if any "event" is affecting the pricing. It is early, you are near the prime summer season, and Europe ain't cheap anymore.
If you want to leave from Greenville and have a stopover in each direction you can do it for under $900. |
Today on Lufthansa $1013 found using itasoftware.com

There are very large meetings that occur all the time that attract large # of ameicans - and Atlanta has good flights compared to most of the southern area of the country. (You might look at the Munich Convention Center web site to see what's going one if you really want to know.)
In any case - if the tickets are gone they're gone. And you either need to pay more or change your dates. |
Thanks for the responses, folks.
I haven't found anything that would indicate why 80-some seats were sold at one time for this flight. Am making plans for alternate arrangements should the price stay high. ((I)) |
International Bar Association conferences during second half of May. No idea how many people are involved.

HI: Another poster on this forum mentioned $999 RT Business Class Newark to Paris on L"Avion. I don't know if the special is still in effect but I am going to try to check it out. Have many others flown on this new charter? Good Luck
