What would be the best gifts from London and Paris?

Hi ... I am planning to go to London and Paris in this coming January and would like to know what would be the perfect gifts I can get for my friends from London and Paris.. of course they should fall into reasonable prices. I would apprecicate any comments.
thanks.

Wow! So many ways to answer... Just a few suggestions from my experience.
For a child: From London, a Paddington bear, or a Harrod's bear wearing a union jack sweater. [with Harrod's embroidered on on foot!]
For a cook: From Paris. Go to Fauchon and buy some tea or spices. You can also try Hediards. In London anything from Fortnum & Mason.
To wear: In London: a *nice* wool scarf.. you can look for a brand like Pringle. Just don't buy at one of those "discount" stores.
For a counter-culture stepson: Tower Records at Picadilly Circus has a wide range of British alternative rock not available in the country. My stepson is a fan of "Coil" [Arrrrghh...] They had about 20 CDs by them.
France: silk scarves... you won't save a lot on a designer brand, but they are FRENCH!
When we went to London in November, I had two requests to pick up things for people who had been there in recent months - but didn't buy something and wished they had. These were a "Mind the Gap" T-shirt with the London Underground symbol and a Hard Rock Cafe London shirt - the original Hard Rock Cafe. I ended up buying both for myself as well. We always buy Christmas ornaments when we travel, and I added a Harrods ornament to my collection that would make a great gift. Have a wonderful trip!
London: From Harrods or Fortnum and Mason's some store brand or other British brand teas, coffees, cookies, etc.

Paris: As tacky as this sounds, on my first trip to Paris 15 years ago I found some dishtowels in several souvenir stores on the rue du Rivoli imprinted with the image of the Mona Lisa. All my friends thought they were hilarious, and they still have them. So do I.

The bad news is that nothing is that cheap to buy in Paris or London. With their added VAT included, there are few things that are reasonable. Sorry.

A tiny Eiffel Tower (made of metal) makes a wonderful Christmas ornament. Just tie a gold cord on it's tip. L'Epicerie, a store on the Ile St Louis is great for mustards and jams (small, not too expensive and very nice) in dozens of flavors.

I believe one can still get the fabulous Eiffel Tower bath sponge (from the tower's gift shop). Useless, but campy.

In London, the ground floor of Liberty has many beautiful small items made from the famous Liberty fabrics.
