Hello Gomiki - I always buy a lot of the Leader Price hand lotion when I am in Paris - last time I bought 12 tubes! It absorbs well, has no scent, softens my hands like no lotion that I can buy here in the US, and is a bargain at 1.27 euro a tube. I swear that the French have "secret ingredients" that they put in the cosmetics that they sell in France only...just kidding...a little. I'm headed over to Paris on the 28th and I'll be buying more. I think the proper name is Leader Price Mains et Ongles. Obviously available at Leader Price stores.

Also, not a potion, but I love Petit Bateau and it is much less expensive in Paris than it is here.

Bon voyage.

Gomiki, there is a nice Monoprix on Rue de Rennes. You can see it from Deux Maggots.

Fouherties-as mentioned above, has great prices. I have bought my hair products there at really good prices. What I really like that I don't think is available in other countries is a lip balm called Rose Onagrine. It is only available at pharmacies and it is much cheaper at this one.

Am I correct in assuming that Parashop is like a French version of Boots? Some of the pictures seemed similar to what one would find in Boots.

Chanel perfumes made in France have a different formula than the Chanel manufactured in the US, or so I'm told. I asked the gal at the counter at Galeries Lafayette, and she verified this. In the US, Chanel is manufactured with a corn sugar product to hold the scent; in France, they use a beet sugar, and apparently it makes the perfume hold longer once you've applied some. At least that's what I remember. I had a friend beg me to pick up some for her when I was in Paris, and I said, "Why? It's cheaper in the US?" and then she explained the difference.

Divine Perfume store across from the Le Grand (Hotel Intercontinental) has some great perfumes.

I also love the perfume and cosmetics counter at Le Bon Marche. Some lines that we don't have here.

Although they are available in the US, Diptyque on Blvd St Germain has some scents not available outside France (high quality candles and other scented fragrances ). Love them!
