What will the weather be like in April in Cortina and Slovenia?

Hi all, Due to some changes it looks like we may have to go on our summer holiday a bit early i.e. April (first half). I have been planning on Asolo area- Cortina - Slovenia and was wondering if we could stick to the same plan. We are travelling with young children (7 and 3) and constant rain and perhaps snow will no doubt be a dampner (literally). Please help decide.

Yes, you may have bad weather ( rain) in that part of the world. If you can, switch to Italy (Tuscany or further south)

Hello Deepa,

I've read your other posts about planning this trip; too bad you have to change the time. We have been in the Veneto area in April and it was very pleasant. But Cortina may be difficult---April is low season in the Dolomites, skiing is over but spring hasn't started. The weather can be cold, grey, and drizzly or foggy. Many hotels close down for a month starting early April. so you might consider skipping Cortina in favor of more time in the Veneto region (Asolo, Bassano del Grappa) before you head for Slovenia. Or spend some time in Venice---it is perfect for small children because there are no cars.

Thanks for your replies. You are right Enzian that Veneto should be fine and perhaps Lublijana but the other major components of the trip - the Eastern Dolomites and Lake Bled would not be likely be. So I think we have taken the decision to not do this area in April. Either we will try to go later or then choose another area altogether. Have been doing Tuscany and Umbria too often. Maybe Paris and Loire...

Deepa - I was in the Dolomites late March/early April last year and had mostly excellent weather.

Thanks Steve. As per weatherbase.com lake bled will have temperatures between -4 and 3 degrees (celcius) which seems awfully cold. We are going to know by next week about the exact status and will make a decision then. In the meanwhile, how does Paris and Loire sound?
