I'm having a school trip to France and Germany around late May to early June, and we're going to see historical sites. My friends and I don't want to look like complete idiots there when we turn up in sweatpants and sneakers, so we were wondering what teens usually wear in those parts? We're around 15, and I think we'll be doing quite a lot of traveling on trains, and walking quite a bit, so what's comfortable and not touristy?

Also can anyone help with the temperature? We're from Singapore and it's usually 30+ºC here.

Jeans and sneakers or summer sandals will be fine, I wouldn't wear sweatpants but I'm not a teen Here in France, teens seem to be in jeans pretty much 100% of the time. Bring some layers and you should be okay temperature-wise. It should (hopefully) be warm at that time of year, but unlikely to be as hot as in Singapore. I've been here for the last two summers, from memory it was lovely and warm in May and got a little bit cooler in June, but a) my memory is terrible on these sorts of things and b) weather varies, obviously. You can look up average temperatures online and then decide for yourself what you would be comfortable wearing in those temperatures. Don't stress though, honestly you'll look like a tourist whatever you do and no-one will care!

Where will you be in Germany? In many parts of the country, sandals in May and June will be too cold (particularly if you're used to 30+ temps!).

The teens I see in my town all wear skin-tight jeans with some kind of a long top that covers the pants down to the hips. And the kids normally wear some kind of dark sneaker or ballerina flats. Uh. I am talking about young girls here, lol!

You can see the poorest of the poor people from eastern Europe wearing those. Otherwise ok only for runners or people that just don't care.

Sweatpants aren't exactly fashionable, indeed. Jeans of any kind are perfectly fine, as are cargo pants and such. Comfortable shoes that you walk well in, sneakers are just fine. You will want to have at least one warm sweater at hand, and don't forget to pack a wind- and rainproof jacket. Pack clothes that can be combined and layered if necessary. The weather can be mixed (this applies to any time of the year). It is late spring/early summer here at that time, the most pleasant time of the year to us, but there can be chilly and rainy days, and you are used to a warmer climate.

Assume you will have some days with rain - so have a strudy folding umbrella and a verythin racin jacket - preferably with a hood.

Sweatpants won;t make it - you'll look like bums/homeless -but jeans are fine. Sneaks better than sandals = esp for chilly/rainy days.

Sweats make you look, well, dumpy when worn on the street back home, too. Jeans will be fine anywhere you are likely to go with a school group, but no rips. They are heavy to pack so wear one pair, not too tight, on the plane and pack a couple of light slacks/skirts. Shorts will be fine at that time of year for your age group, if the weather is good. Ts are too but pack a dressier top or two, and learn how to toss a sweater around your shoulders European-style for cooler evenings.
Sneakers are essential, especially on cobblestones. Flip-flops for the hotel only. As a male, I wear black sneakers which can pass as clunky dress shoes.
Parisiens have long practice in not caring what tourists wear, and both they and Germans look pretty much the same as the rest of the western world, as Kerouac and others have frequently pointed out on this board; look here http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com...&page=1#131258
They do like leather jackets, and both males and females have a knack with scarves, all year long.

I wouldn't wear white sneakers/athletic shoes. They get dirty pretty quickly while touring.

Flip flops not only look like "trailer park trashwear," but they are horrible for your feet, ankles, and knees.
