For myself, I pick fabrics that don't wrinkle, rather than have the extra weight of a travel iron.

RufusTFirefly,

Yep, I know that many groups of peoples roamed far before the British. How about Pacific Islanders, and the birthplace of humanity, Africa? I just meant it in the context that Americans certainly didn't start the roaming thing.

I'd still like to know what the stereotype is about American skin.

And as for the water bottle thing, I've been guilty of that, too. But I only do it in the summertime here where I am (which is at least a six-month affair here and seems to be getting longer...), when the temperature is normally above 37.7 C/100 F (or much higher), and extremely dry as this is the desert. Having a bottle of water at hand can be quite helpful in that type of situation.

Oh, and I love the bit about the "latest revolutionary advice" being to drink when you're thirsty. LOL, we've got nano-technology, genetic cloning, etc., and the "experts" are just now figuring this one out? Just like when I heard, a few years ago, the ground-breaking news that (other) animals have feelings...they feel. Thanks for breaking that one to me. Humans MUST be contributing to our planetary density more than one might expect...

nutella misses rex's point, and walkinaround's not been listening.
Greeks, Latins etc speaking loudly? No way. Voluble, yes. Argumentative, yes. But penetratingly loud to the point of irritation to all within a 50m radius? - that's an American preserve.

Completely off-topic but I love the experts too.

A year of two ago it was found that children born to older women are more intelligent.

Then it was "discovered" that women who have higher education and careers tend to have their children later in life.
On the topic, our old friend layers under a nice warm coat. Buy yourself a woolly hat when you get there.
I think that jeans might not be warm enough, but I'm quite a chilly mortal.
