What to wear in Paris & Rome?
 

Hi Guys,

I am going to Paris, Rome & Venice last week of April and first week of May. I did search weather forecast & it is around 8 - 16oC in Paris & 13-18oC in Italy.

In Vietnam, with such temperature, it is still very cold & we must wear at least things such as: T-shirt, knit & warm coat, gloves, warm shoes & a hat when we want to go outside.

As this is the 1st time I have been to Europe, can anyone please advise how should I pack? It is said that Europe is not as cold as in Asia, so, much appreciated any of your advice on this.

You should wear whatever will make you feel comfortable at those temperatures. If you are used to a warm climate and those are temperatures that you would need a coat, hat, and gloves, then you should bring them. 8 degrees in Paris will not feel warmer than 8 degrees in Vietnam.

But temperatures can be very variable, and it could be warmer than that. If so, you can be pleasantly surprised and leave off some of the layers.

You never know with the global warming. A few years ago, there was a day with hale stones in March
Dress in layers, so you can remove some item of clothing should it be two warm. Example shirt with sweater over it.
tights under jeans or pants, Raincoat with a removable lining.

Buy a cheap lightweight jacket at Uniqlo in Paris; these are great for spring, you can roll it up to put in your bag if you don't need it.
Temperatures have been weird; we had snow here in Belgium less than two weeks ago. Just keep checking the forecast.
Hats and gloves are probably not necessary late April (but if you are used to very warm weather, pack them anyway).

Spring, esp end of April start of May can be very tricky...definitely prepare for some rain, it could be a heat wave though - you never know. Layering is always best, until mid June when weather stays more constant, however the past couple summers have been colder than normal...today we are expecting it to go over 20'c in Germany but there is still a chance of rain...comfortable shoes that can get wet are a good idea as you will be doing a lot of walking.
