WHAT TO WEAR IN PARIS

WHAT SHOULD A WOMAN PACK FOR HER FIRST WEEK LONG TRIP TO PARIS?

1) turn off your all caps
2) wear clothes. Not being a smart-a**, honest. Wear what you would wear in any big city where you come from.
3) be sure to take comfortable shoes

Recently returned from Paris (3rd trip). This time (was it because of the time of year?) things were different: it was rare to see anyone dressed up at all.
(I felt overdressed on the plane - seems as if everyone else was wearing jeans.)
Do, of course, go for comfortable shoes, but don't worry about not looking chic.

If "everyone" is in jeans , you don't have to be .

Being chic AND comfortable are not mutually exclusive.

I wore basic black slacks and jackets or overshirts and then colors in shirts or scarves. Easy to mix and match and light to pack.

I met a woman of Paris who had a hot pink skirt suit with white cowboy boots. Only a (I don't know the proper spelling) Parisian could pull that off. LOL I also did see a strikingly beautiful young woman in a bright pink jogging suit with white sneakers as well. Again, you would have to be that lovely to pull this off. It did make me think of Fodor's however.

I always pack my favorite 4-5 "outfits" that are appropriate to the weather where I am going. Mix and match colors and pieces, fabrics that pack well. No reason to dress different in Paris then whatever you do at home when you dress up a bit but are still casual, the clothes that you feel best wearing. Take at least 2 pair of really comfortable (not new) shoes, sandals, boots (you don't mention what time of year you are going).

I would wear mom jeans and a poncho.

Do not band. Banding is illegal on at the Crillon.

Do not step in dog poop if you are wearing Taryn Rose ballet flats.

No one will care what you are wearing because everyone flees Paris in July and August. The Countess de Billy leaves for Biarritz on Thursday.

About 1/2 of what she thinks she will need.
