what to wear in June?
 

Please no criticism of my question! I would like to know what to wear so I don't get the comment I got in Sicily last year about my clothes being out of date.
Which colors are best in June? white? subdued? bright colors? One piece dress or skirt and top (that is what got me the criticism last year). I "know" I shouldn't care what other's think, but at my age I need all the approving glances I can get.

I'm just curious about who made the comment on your attire. Hope you gave that person a Bronx cheer! I've worn skirts and tops to Europe for ages. Skirts are cooler in hot weather.

I think June is a bit early for whites, unless it's a white tee with darker trousers (tan, black, navy, etc.). I didn't see anyone in Croatia in bright colors. I was on a tour and the tour guide who was Croatian and young wore slacks and sweaters/tees in neutral colors. Folks who worked in restaurants and tourist sights wore neutral/pale colors or black. Other tourists seemed to blend in wearing slacks and tops and sweaters.

Whatever you bring keep in mind that hotels in Croatia do not provide irons in the rooms. You must use the hotel laundry service.

I was in Syracusa Sicily at an archeological site and asked for a Senior discount. She looked me up and down and said "you are not old, only your clothes". I was wearing a skirt and top, but Sicilians were already in to the dresses now popular here. Bronx cheer? I did go to Bronx Science but never mastered the science of a Bronx cheer. But still the New York wanting to be In Style has lingered, adding to my wanting to know what to wear this June. I know that in Vallarta you wear bright colors, but in Boston subdued colors (I have a story about that too). Again, adding again to my wanting to know what colors are appropriate in Croatia in June. My ex-husband graduated from Bronx School of Science, class of 1982. :)

He was brillant--spoke 5 languages--but could not dress. He used to wear Tretorn sneakers with electrical tape holding the sole together and one of those floppy Woody Allen tennis hats.

That is sooooo funny! Did you laugh at her and tell her that you were wearing next year's fashion? I would have.

I would have an insult at the ready for her as well--how rude--just who does she think she is????

OK, now another story- Literary conference final banquet: Boston 1993. Everyone was wearing solid grey,black or brown, except two of us from California and...Jackie Kennedy in her canary yellow size 0 sheath. But she was a lady, and didn't stair at my bright print dress, but said a sentence or two about how everyone was enjoying herself.
So I still want to know the general color palette now in style in Croatia or southern Europe for June; anyone up on that?

Well I'm no expert on Croatia, but my typical travel wardrobe for summer in Europe should work for you, I'd think. A few pair of nice pants in neutral solid colors, a few tops of various weights and styles, a nice jacket to put over them, sandals or walking shoes. (Skip the old lady dress or skirts)

I'll be in Crotia in late May/early June and haven't given the idea of what's proper to wear any consideration. I am also a candidate for senior discount and if not a fashionista at least I've always been considered fashionable. Make your own fashion statement and don't rely on others to dictate to you. And, by the way, I plan on taking at least one pair of white pants. White is now fashionable year round.
