What to see - Normandy, Brittany, and Durdogne

Hi folks,

I am heading off to Paris in September and have been asked what I want to do/see. WE are going to Normandy, Brittany and the Durdogne regions We will have a car. Any suggestions/ and where can we stay, reasonable and quaint/out of the ordinary.
Also does the TGV, travel Tours to Charles de G. direct? Anyone know times, say afternoon? Merci, Denise

Probing/open-ended questions:

How long will you be in France?

What are your interests?

What type of activities interest you?

What is 'quaint' to you?

How many of you?

There is one train from Tours to CDG direct at 6:00am; there are other trains during the day, but you change stations (arrive Austerlitz, leave Lyon).

We did a similar trip last March. In Normandy we stopped the first night in Honfleur, very quant fishing village. Definately want to visit there again. Visited Bayeux and the tapestry and then on to Mont. St. Michele which was absolutely wonderful. Spent the night on the Mont. which was a lot of fun walking it at night with nothing but us and the bats.

We drove then to the Dordogne - as I recall it took 10 - 12 hours on back roads. While there we did a lot of driving along the river. Stopped and visited small towns and picturesque spots. Beynac was great. Checked out Rocamadur and Font du Gamme caves. Chateaux and beautiful scenery everywhere.

We stayed at a Chateau - Chateau d'Arnac which is south and a little east of Brive. The chateau was absolutely wonderful and the food was great. The prices were reasonable. They are on the internet. I definately want to go there again and would plan my itenerary around staying there.

In Paris, we stay at the Hotel du Champs de Mars. Rue Cler neighboorhood - very quiet at night, close to the Metro and Eiffel Tower. Pedestrian street lined with shops - butchers, produce, pastry shops....

We drove the whole trip - a lot of driving but we enjoy seeing the countryside and the ability to stop when we want.
Bon Voyage
