What to see in Paris in June
 

I will be traveling to Paris in June with my husband. Since he will be involved all day in business meetings, I will be on my own to explore.I'd like some ideas for things to do . I don't speak French.

After the major stops (Notre Dame, Louvre, Eiffel Tower, etc.), I really enjoyed the smaller museums such as the Rodin, Cluny, Nissam Camondo, Jacquemart-Andre. Also, walking thru any parks I came across. Sitting in a corner cafe with a glass of wine and watching the people go by. I never felt uncomfortable wandering by myself. I spent a month in Paris last May with 2 weeks or so by myself and managed to fill the day just getting on the metro and going somewhere, then walking all over. I really recommend the Streetwise Paris map as it's small, easy to carry and will get you all over central Paris. I don't speak French either, no problem. The Muse D'Orsay and the Rodin museums are two of the finest smaller museums in Europe. <BR><BR>For Rodin, think the "Thinker", "The Gates of Hell", "The Wave" and "The Burgers of Calais". For the D'Orsay imagine room after room full of impressionists including van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Rembrandt etal<BR><BR>There is also a magnificent museum of medieval history right off St. Germain. <BR><BR>There will be plenty to occupy your time.<BR><BR>PS I would be certain that the hotel is air conditioned!

Wow-I never thought of the a/c element in the hotel. I think we are staying at the Bristol. Anyone know anything about it? Many thanks to all who have answered.

We will be in Paris in mid-June and are headed there at that time specifically for "Music Day", which I believe is on June 22 (in any case, it's on the day of the summer solstice). My husband says that there are musical events all over Paris that day.

I would suggest the things that one might do ANY OTHER TIME OF THE YEAR. Walk, see the sights, eat good food and drink good wine, you get the drift.

"Faites de la Musique" is on June 21st<BR>- and is going on all over France not<BR>just in Paris.

I can't imagine your not being thrilled with it.<BR>Don't worry about not speaking French.<BR>A smile and a Bon Jour or a Merci goes a long way. Another vote for the Rodin & D'Orsay museums --- great little museums! I'm assuming that you might want to save the Eiffel Tower for both you & your hubby to explore. You might want to make a dinner reservation to eat at Tower (what is name of that restaurant?). Paris is an easy city to manage on your own. Very walkable or simple to figure out how to get places via the metro. <BR>
