What to see/do in Lyon, France

I plan to go there during the third week in September. Any suggestions on what to see and do there? Any interesting shops there?

One of the things in that area of France are the great Wine Country drives.

The old city center is wonderful to walk. Make sure you see the "traboules" or passageways! I actually took a walking tour of Lyon that I signed up for at the tourist office.

Also, Lyon is a also a convenient base to make an excursion to Annecy- one of my most favorite places. It is about 90 min. by car.
