Barb,
I FOUND ONE!
I was going through some viaggio "flotsom" last night,
I found that in Venice, and Pricida that with our bill, a card was usually left.

And lo and behold the name of a restuarant where I had a very good lunch
made it's way to the top of the pile !
It is in the port,
on Via Roma, which is the name of the main street.
Ristorante Fammivento,
had Caprese ( of course!!)
a side of sauted zucchini
and pasta with clams,
finished with expresso and yummy limoncello.
a VERY large and filling meal.
as it is right on the busy main street , there is always something to watch,
lots of young kids cruising arouind on their scooters, showing off for each other

I also found a scedule for the ferry system,
so if you have a specific trip in mind,
you can E- me at the address above, or try here,
and I can look it up for you.

The tirreno provides a small kitchentte in the rooms,
so what I did was buy myself some food
(procuitto, mozzarello, and other cheeses, bread, olives) and because I had large -late lunches,
I would make myself a dinner whenever I got hungry,
and take it up onto the roofterrace at the hotel,
and watch the lights and the stars trying to out do each other.
It was lovely.

Also, when you are there.
Watch out for the tiny truck which makes daily rounds in the streets.
It is a Cheese- Mozarrella Truck!!!
kind of like the Good Humor trucks we had when I was growing up in the 1950's.
It stops, and the people come out to it, and buy their daily cheese.
Really cool!
wish I had gotten a closer photo of it.....
wish we had one where I live....

Barb,
as to the language.
Less english than in other places.
Most of the tourists are italians or germans.
but, certainly I did hear english,
and as my italian is certainly far from perfect....
I had to use some english .
but, it is a really good idea to learn as much as possible of italian.
I think there was a good thread here a few days ago that listed some helpful, general phrases.
