What to pack for Ireland in Mid-September

Hi All,

I was wondering what the weather will be like in Mid-September, and what would be comfortable to wear? I am guessing jeans or khaki's (too cool for shorts?), but thought I'd ask the pro's.

Thanks!

In 2001 we spent 3 weeks of Sept in Ireland. I remember Dublin (at the start of our trip) being somewhat warm to walk around--maybe mid-70's. T-shirt weather. Most places the rest of the trip we encountered some drizzle every other day, and a light sweater with a wind/rainbreaker worked well. Take more than one pair of walking shoe in case they get wet. I think I used gortex hikers by Timberland. Sept is a beautiful month there and you'll encounter less tour buses. Have fun!

We have been twice in September. Take long pants. If it is warm enough to wear shorts, it won't last long. It was never cold but chilly enough to warrant a sweater. We tried to layer with a t-shirt, a cotton long sleeve shirt and a sweater or jacket. DH wore a fleece or a fleece vest most of the time. When we did get warm, we could peel off a layer.

Definitely take a rain jacket! Two pair of shoes is a must as well- you don't want to wear wet shoes for days on end.

I agree with hopingtotravel. Ireland in September is beautiful.
