What to do with a few hours in Dublin After Flight Arrival

After learning that the Air Canada flight that I wanted has very cramped seats (29" seat pitch if you can believe it), I decided to look at flying from Toronto to Dublin on Aer Lingus instead. Problem is that whereas the Air Canada flight would have got us to Dublin at around 9:00 am, the Aer Lingus flight lands in Dublin around 5:30. We can't drop off our bags until 11:00 am.

Anyone have suggestions as to what to do with the 4 or 5 hours before 11:00 am in Dublin on a Thursday morning?

Check with the hotel or wherever you're staying to see about an early arrival. We arrived early at the Ariel House (10:00) and they had our room ready 45 minutes later. They even envied us to breakfast at no charge, and the room was ready when we finished our tea.

If nothing else, you can drop your luggage off earlier than 11:00 (I don't see why not) and take a walk around Dublin.

Remember, it will take you awhile to collect your luggage and get into the city.

That should have been "invited" us to breakfast.

There is a Left Luggage facility under the Busarass terminal across from Connelly Station in the centre.. being one of the first flights in you should be able to keep your bags there for a couple of hours, grab some breakfast and have a little wander around. There are another couple of left luggage places and your Hotel should be able to give you details of the nearest one.

It is surprising how few Hotels make the effort when they know many guests will be coming in on early flights.

When we stayed at Buswells we had a 7:30 am flight and they had our room ready but other times we have just left them with hotel staff and wandered around, got breakfast etc. Most hotels will let you leave your bags with them. One for example was a nice walk in closet that they stored bags in for customers.
