What to do in provence if raining?
Me and my DH will be in provence for one week starting next saturday. Weather forecast says rain for more than 3 days. We are based near le Thor.
Thank you for your ideas. Bateire |
Do mthe same you would do if it is not raining.
|
Go shopping, have lunch, drink some wine, and/or read up on things to do. I enjoy people watching.
|
Put on rain gear and do whatever you were planning to do.

If really bad drive to Avignon. Park outsdie the walls downs by the river and walk through the walls to visit either the bridge or the popes palace. The later is worth while and you can also walk in the old town behind the palace. Finally stroll towards the station and fill up at one of the restaurants on the main drag.
Shopping is allowed and most of this area is pedestrian only. |
And of course the usual wine tasting anywhere. The popes palace one looks a bit touristy but I was very impressed by what they brought
|
good photo op's as well when the water on the cobbles reflect their surroundings.
Big lunch, lots of wine and a tremendous...I mean.. HUGE siesta ... its vacation! |
If shopping is on the agenda, Tissus Gregoire in St. Saturnin de Avignon is a fabulous place to pick up Provencal tablecloths, napkins, placemats, wash mitts, table runners, etc., etc. They have the most spectacular fabrics on bolts in the back of the store also along with tassels, curtain panels, etc., etc. Prices are very reasonable. All measurements are in meters so if you're looking for a tablecloth, convert inches to meters.
Enjoy! joy/luvparee |
